MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. The Russian military’s latest attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure was not only a strategic blow but also served as retaliation for a recent Ukrainian attack on the Taganrog military airport, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed.

“Also for that reason,” Peskov said in response to a question from reporters.

Earlier on Friday, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Russian armed forces had launched high-precision attacks on Ukraine’s fuel and energy infrastructure, which generates power for the defense sector, in response to the attack on Taganrog airport with ATACMS missiles earlier this week. All targets were successfully hit, the Russian army specified.

On December 11, the Kiev regime struck Taganrog airport in the southern Russian region of Rostov. Investigations have revealed that six American-made ATACMS ballistic missiles were used in the attack. Although no damage was reported to the airfield when debris from ATACMS missiles fell, several personnel were injured. The Russian Defense Ministry subsequently vowed retaliation for the attack. Peskov previously stated that the timing of the retaliation would be at Russia’s sole discretion.
